My Heart Is Yours

The IronCraft Challenge this week (#5) was to create a Valentine for someone you love.  I first thought about my husband of course, but, although he appreciates what I do, I'm not sure he would want art for Valentine's day, you know?  Then I thought about my little man, but I'm thinking something Elmo related or covered in frosting would be more up his alley.

So I began thinking about what art project I could create, and who for?

Then it hit me, FOR YOU!

I am so blessed to be able to create and celebrate the gifts I've been given, and I know I don't say it enough, but I appreciate y'all.  Really I do!  So my Valentine goes out to all of you this year...

My Heart Is Yours.

What!?  Hug.

I adore this clip from Family Guy.  At my house Richard does this when I'm working away and he's tugging on my arm trying to hand me the 16th toy in the last 30 seconds and then when I'm finally like, WHAT!?! ... he says 'hug?'

I completely melt and feel like a total heal...and. work. stops.

You Are My Sunshine, You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Gray

My customers have the best suggestions!  This was something whipped up for a customer and now it will be part of the Ferntree Studio collection.  :)

Casualty of War, err I mean Art

Hmm...sometimes we have to suffer for our art.  I'm not cutting off my ear or anything, but this REALLY hurt!

I decided I'd try lino cutting, just to do something fun I haven't played with since high school.  Well it was fun, all except the part where I was using horrible technique and slipped with a very sharp cutting tool and wound up bleeding all over my kitchen table.  *sigh*  Ohsie welsie, no biggie.  The stamp turned out pretty cool though.  I think I'll wind up using it in some mixed media stuff, or maybe I'll put it on my packages before they go to the post office.  I dunno, it's just kinda cute.  What do you think?

Iron Craft Challenge #4 - Cozy

So this was supposed to be a challenge to make a cozy.  You know, like the cardboard kind people use for those disposable coffee cups, but prettier.  Well, I don't drink coffee, I drink tea, and I certainly don't go somewhere else and pay $3 for what I make at home for 50 cents.  So, no need for a cozy here.  Now, Kat and Susi, the ladies that run the Iron Craft challenges, encourage people to be creative and make the challenge something unique to them.  Score!  So here's what I came up with.... a mixed media piece entitled 'Cozy'.  :)  I used a linen panel, acrylic paint, pastels, cardstock, markers, felted wool from a sweater, floss and a wood button from my Grandma's stash.  (oh, and hot glue, but don't tell anyone!)
